Supporting Bilingual Children in the Early Years

In the 21st century UK society is becoming ever more diverse and increasing numbers of bilingual children are entering Early Years settings.

Most practitioners in the UK now work with children who speak more than one language and who bring a wide range of linguistic and cultural experiences.

I am frequently asked to speak at conferences on Supporting Bilingualism in the Early Years because of my recognised expertise and presentation skills.

Contact me about consultancy on the following themes:

  • Working with bilingual children and their families;
  • Building on children’s linguistic and cultural experiences: the potential benefits of bilingual learning;
  • Developing strategies for supporting bilingual children’s learning in the Early Years.
“The training provided a clear and accessible summary of all the research on bilingual learners to date. The training also provided the opportunity to reflect on my current practice and tools to support improvements.

Dr Drury’s knowledge on EAL is invaluable and her training will support research-based sustainable improvements around adults’ interactions and the learning environment for this group of children”
